The Power of Potatoes: How Increased Exports Could Bring $1 Billion And 5,600 Jobs To America

Another BIG week for Potatoes

Last week, we helped the Michigan Potato Industry Commission launch their No Small Potatoes report that highlighted the Mitten State's $2.5 billion potato industry.

Before we could celebrate that success, we turned to the national stage and joined the National Potato Council on Capitol Hill this week to launch their new report on the potential impact of expanded potato exports. Spoiler alert: Both launches were a big success.

Standing up for Potatoes on Capitol Hill

We've been working with NPC since 2021. In that time we have staffed two Potato Expos and two Washington Summits, unveiled two groundbreaking economic reports, and much more.

This year has already featured the biggest Potato Expo in the 16-year history of the event, and now a new report brought straight to lawmakers on the Hill to advocate for increased access to trade markets.

Report findings state that expanded foreign trade would create an additional $1 billion in U.S. GDP and 5,600 domestic jobs. To learn more about expanded potato trade, head over to Spud Nation, a site designed by Evocati PR.

It's no secret we love potatoes, evidenced by three years supporting NPC and recently bringing Michigan Potatoes and Potato LEAF into our client family.

These last two weeks were a great example of doing what we love: providing public relations with a purpose. As always, stay tuned to the Squared Away blog, newsletter, LinkedIn, and Twitter for more potato news!
