A Spud-tacular Partnership

Showcasing Our Impact & Key Wins at the National Potato Council's 2025 Summer Meeting

Introduction

This week, the National Potato Council (NPC) leadership team will convene for their Summer Meeting, where they'll review the industry's progress, discuss future strategies, and highlight significant achievements. Evocati PR is proud to attend alongside our partners to present a detailed account of the PR wins we've achieved together over the past year.

This meeting is not just about looking back; it’s about demonstrating the tangible impact of our strategic communications on behalf of America's potato growers, a $100B industry we love to support.

Our presence underscores our dedication to showcasing the direct results of our efforts elevating the potato industry's voice. Let’s dig in.

Our firm has been working to ensure NPC's critical messages reach key audiences, from Capitol Hill to consumers. Our presentation at the Summer Meeting will detail significant advancements across multiple communication channels, particularly in earned media and podcast reach.

One major dub is the continued growth of the "Eye on Potatoes Podcast," which we produce. Since its inception, the podcast has amassed an impressive 21,316 downloads, demonstrating a consistent upward trend in listenership. This platform serves as a vital tool for delivering timely updates and expert insights on policy, trade, and industry developments directly to growers and stakeholders.

Beyond the podcast, our strategic PR efforts have generated significant earned and social media traction. From March 1st to June 1st of this year alone, we've secured 923 total mentions across media, maintaining a daily average of nine mentions. More impressively, our team helped drive a remarkable 887 million in total reach during this period, a 133% increase from the previous period's 381 million, with the daily average reach soaring to 9.54 million.

Securing High-Profile Media Hits on Critical Issues Like International Trade

Our team has been instrumental in securing high-profile media placements that directly advocate for the potato industry's interests.

The ongoing efforts to open Japan's market to U.S. table potatoes, a potential $150 million market, have garnered significant attention. As reported by the Associated Press on May 5, 2025, NPC CEO Kam Quarles stated that Japan's delay in market access is "pure politics" aimed at protecting domestic growers. He further emphasized that the impact of U.S. tariffs could be a key factor in compelling Japan to finalize a deal.

NPC's advocacy efforts were also highlighted by Agri-Pulse, featuring strong statements from U.S. officials. On April 25, 2025, Agri-Pulse reported Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins' commitment to using trade discussions, including her visit to Japan, to "go in guns-a-blazing... to open those markets up" for U.S. fresh potatoes.

This was further reinforced by U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, who, as reported by Agri-Pulse on May 20, 2025, affirmed that gaining market access for U.S. fresh potato exports to Japan is a "top priority" in negotiations.

These crucial media placements underscore the national attention on the issues NPC champions and the effectiveness of our media relations strategy.
