After years of preparation and incubation, Evocati PR has announced their professional esports team: the Evocatus Legionnaires. While the roster is stacked, the team has not been finalized and is accepting applications.

Headlined by speed-runner Barrett Y. Bogue and human aim-bot Mark Szymanski, the Evocatus Legionnaires team prides itself on its NES Super Mario and N64 007 Golden Eye squads. They are ready to expand into other 80's highlights in late-2024.

"We've never been interested in the status quo, and the Evocatus Legionnaires endeavor is no different," said Team Captain Bogue. "Many believe the hype behind the NES and N64 have died, but we believe it's just getting started, and we're here to show you why."

In typical Evocati PR fashion, the Legionnaires are trailblazers, boasting an average gamer age above 40, substantially higher than your average esports squad. The grizzled veterans of the team will not evolve alongside the industry into popular games such as Valorant or League of Legends and instead focus on their decades of experience in the Nintendo Entertainment System and Nintendo 64.

"The esports space has long been controlled by younger generations," said co-founder Szymanski. "Now, we're ready to show these youngsters how we did it back in my day with just a game cartridge and Mountain Dew. Watch out: the Legionnaires do not just play games—Like a Rampage monster on an apartment building, we smash them."

Following last year's failed transition to a fully AI workforce, many are hesitant to sponsor the Evocatus team as they are still looking for a title sponsor.

"People love to call our transition to a fully AI firm a "failure", but we were just ahead of our time," continued Bogue. "There's no way we'll make the mistake again, so we decided to take the opposite approach, stay behind the times."

If you are an NES or N64 pro, fax your resume to 1-888-EVO-CATI or email it to evocatusesporters@aol.com.

The team is not interested in applications from hipsters who got into these gems after their heyday. Zoomers need not apply.

About Evocati PR's Evocatus Esports Team: Named after the Roman legionnaires who honorably completed their term of service, the feared Evocatus voluntarily returned to serve their Emperor in various military campaigns. Inspired by their acts of bravery, our team will return to its gaming roots to defeat our opponents at games of skill like Super Mario Bros. on the NES or Tetris on the Nintendo® Gameboy.
