The Client Attraction Recipe: Secret Ingredients for a Thriving Customer Base

Learn These THREE Ingredients to Better Attract Clients

Welcome to Our World

Behind every successful PR firm or small business in a service industry is a foundation built to attract and retain clients. Client Relations is an important component of service industries but often not fully understood.

In our uber-competitive landscape, client attraction and retention are increasingly difficult. There's more to it than delivering quality and having clients flock to you. Instead, you have to find prospective clients, pitch yourself, develop and update your portfolio, communicate clearly and timely, create original ideas, sculpt communications plans, have difficult conversations, and then endlessly iterate the process as you aim to retain clients long-term.

Yes, that is overwhelming—welcome to the world of professional services. Thankfully, we have a few basic tips for attracting prospective clients. If you're just starting out or seeking new and innovative ways to attract clients, consider including these ingredients in your outreach.

Find A Niche Within Your Target Market

Everyone has as niche inside their target market. For us, we generally serve the military-connected, non-profit companies based on our team's experience and background.

Our team is proudly military-connected—we identified a need for PR in that market and have partnered with clients whose missions align with ours. Our target market is larger to include any business that wants to inspire, communicate, and activate underserved communities like America's amazing potato growers!

And remember, finding a niche takes time. It will reveal itself through market research, customer interviews, and more.

Showcase Your Success with Clients

If you're a fan of Evocati PR, then you know how much we love showing off our work for our clients. Around here, every Friday is a Client in the News Friday, or CITNF for short. These are short posts that highlight what our clients are up to and how we're helping further that mission.

Not all of our work follows this CITNF pattern though. A few times a year we have a HUGE story to highlight. These are our Client Success Stories featured on our website. Ranging from our work on the National Potato Council's Economic Impact Report, the Potato Expo, a national campaign highlighting Fayetteville State University's work with military-connected students, and much more.

Showcasing your success is not bragging— rather, each is an opportunity to show the value you bring to prospective clients who want to work with you. This gives them an opportunity to see themselves as potentially benefiting from the services you offer.

Create a Sales Funnel

Client attraction is sales. You are selling yourself to prospective clients. Why are you the right choice for them? How are you better than other options?

These are the questions that guide your pitch. We won't focus too much on creating a sales funnel here, our President and Founder Barrett Y. Bogue already wrote about this in a previous blog post: Foundational Lessons for Entrepreneurs from the President & Founder of Evocati PR and included a reference for additional help, so be sure to read those next! For more information on this, watch this episode of the Leverage For Growth Podcast where Barrett shares more on the topic (and much more!).
